To celebrate 35 years of world class road racing, four of the most respected and honored runners in Crim history will return to step onto the famous start line bricks on Saginaw Street. These "Legends of the Crim" will take part in ceremonies and public events during Crim week in August, and include:
Greg Meyer - Second Crim winner and the last American male Boston Marathon winner
Lisa Weidenbach-Rainsberger - Three time Crim winner and the last American female Boston Marathon winner
Cathy O'Brien - 1989 Crim winner and record holder for US Americn Women's 10 Mile in a mixed race
Herb Lindsay - Most honored Crim winner, having won more Crim Ten Mile races than any other person. (Three total)
A full year's lease on a brand new Buick Regal will be awarded to the male or female Michigan winner of the Crim ten mile, courtesy of Patsy Lou Williamson Buick GMC. Car to be awarded on race weekend, and winner to be determined by the following selection process:
The winner wil be the Michigan man or woman who comes the closest to the existing American Record based on the percentage of time difference.
American Record for men: 46:13
American Record for women 52:31
Example:
52:31 equals 3139 seconds. If a woman runs 55:00 that equals 3300 seconds.
46:13 equals 2773 seconds. If a man runs 48:43 that equals 2923 seconds.
In this case the woman wins having run to 95.12% of the record vs the man who ran within 94.86% of the US record.
