How do I find my meeting place?

How far is 5K and 8K?
5K is 3.1 miles and 8K is 4.9 miles
How far should I be running or walking before I join the program?
You can join this program with no previous experience! This program has a place for everyone! We have people every year who join us right off the couch and other who have years of experience. The size of this program provides a place for some with no exercise experience to very experienced runners and walkers. Here you will find people with similar fitness goals and those looking to improve their lifestyle with many healthy living choices. The groups are the best part of this program, many people find new friends and training partners.
Is registration limited?
It is highly recommended that you mail in your registration with payment as soon as possible!
What does the fee for the Training Program include?
  • The fee includes:
  • Group training sessions on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm
  • Training calendar for you to follow the nights you are not with your group
  • Entrance fee into one event for the Crim Festival of Races, August 28, 2010
  • Entrance fee into two other area running or walking events
  • Pre and post race health screenings at Hurley Health and Fitness Center (cholesterol screening available at an extra cost)
  • Informational clinics covering injury prevention, nutrition and clothing
  • Brooks technical fabric shirt
  • Six visits to Hurley Health and Fitness Center
  • Jeff Galloway’s Training Programs book for first time participants
  • Subscription to Michigan Runner Magazine for returning participants
  • Discounts on products at area walking and running stores
  • Total value is over $225!
When does the program start?
There is a participant orientation and shoe clinic on April 17 from 4 ? 6 pm at Northbank Center in Flint. Representatives from Brooks, Bauman?s Running and Walking Shop and Complete Runner will be on hand to help you find the best shoes for you! Jeff Galloway will also join us that afternoon as a speaker and for a fun run / walk. The Placement Night, which includes a 1 mile walk or run, will be held at Ballenger Fieldhouse on the Mott campus on Tuesday, May 11 for all 10 Mile runners and on Wednesday, May 12 for all walkers and 5K / 8K runners. This is an important night to be sure you are placed in the correct group for the rest of the training. Regular training groups will begin meeting the following Tuesday, May 18 at 6 pm.
Will we ever run without taking walk breaks?
Not during a training session. It is not recommended for those other than experienced runners.
